Most of use think of a variety of different weapons we can use when we are talking about the concept of self defense. However there are plenty of good techniques that don't require the use of any type of weapon. These are good to learn because you may have to defend yourself in a split second where there is no opportunity to reach for your weapon of choice. You also have to consider the fact that you may find your weapon doesn't work at the one moment when you really need it to. The majority of these self defense moves were introduced by the Japanese. They were later adopted by American soldier's to help them in the line of defense. In some instances self defense without using weapons was a good choice because it prevented other enemies from identifying their location. Being able to perform various self defense techniques without weapons requires the individual to be flexible and well disciplined. Training requires being willing to practice the various moves again and again. They need to be taught by a well trained instructor who can go over each aspect of the technique in detail. This is to ensure that the individual learns the right way to perform them. Otherwise they won't be effective when you need them. You also run the risk of injuring yourself in the process. In the beginning the individual needs to learn how to do the self defense techniques precisely. After this has been mastered they individual can work on their speed. Most of them work the best when the element of surprise is in tact. Most self defense techniques are taught in 30 minute blocks of time. It is wise to only introduce a couple of methods at a time. Otherwise the individual will become confused. In the end it will only leave them frustrated and hinder their ability to master any of the various self defense without using weaponry techniques. It is very important that the individual spends plenty of time in one on one brawls with other individuals so the skills they learn can continue to improve. While in a learning environment there is room for errors and room for pointing out wrong techniques. However in a real life threatening situation there are no rules that the perpetrator is going to follow. Your reactions to the situation as well as being able to implement the self defense techniques properly are going to help ensure you come out of the situation on top. Learning these types of techniques can definitely improve an individuals self esteem. In the real world most people feel like the underdog because of their size. Women often feel like the weaker sex in our society. Using self defense techniques can remove that fear and replace it with a sense of peace. Knowing you have the skills you need to handle yourself in any given situation that could be physically threatening is very useful. You also don't have to worry about the various laws that are in place for different types of weapons when it comes to self defense. If you travel a great deal for work or pleasure it becomes almost virtually impossible to be able to keep track of what weapons you can use. You definitely don't want to get yourself into legal trouble because you were trying to defend yourself. It is important for people of all ages and of all backgrounds to know how to defend themselves. Acts of violence can happen anywhere and at anytime. Do your part to protect yourself by learning various methods of self defense that don't require you to have a weapon on hand. You never know when you may need to exhibit such skills. |
