Private Investigator's Surveillance Tools and Equipment E-mail
Private investigators are very good at observing and getting the details they need to make their case. While they have plenty of good skills to put to the test in the field they are successful because of the many different pieces of surveillance equipment and tools that they use for different situations. Having the right equipment can make a difference between having the evidence you need and only having speculation to work with.

Pictures and videos say more than anything else when it comes to proving your case against someone. For example if they are claiming a back injury and you have pictures of them engaging in various activities after the claim then you may have something to use in a court of law.

One way to make sure there is no question about when they information was captured use a camera and a video camera that have a date and time stamp on them. This will help you to keep your information in order later as well.

Of course a private investigator has to remain undetected because if the cover is blown the entire operation is ineffective. It may not always be possible to get as close to the person you are monitoring as you would like. A good option is to have a pair of binoculars. They should be equipped with night vision as well because there is a good chance you will be doing surveillance at night.

Your video cameras and regular cameras all need to be able to work well with a lens for when you aren't as close as you want to be but can get good pictures with such features. Cameras need to be able to pick up the information at night too without having to us a flash that can give away the fact that you are in the area. There are devices that allow you to monitor what is being said on phone calls as well.

A private investigator never knows where they may end up when they are conducting surveillance. All of the tools and equipment used has to be waterproof so that it can be used on a stake out in the rain or even in the water.

To help blend into the scene a private investigator has to have the right clothing as well. You don't want to stick out like a red thumb when you are trying to monitor the actions of someone else. There are many different locations where surveillance takes place so a private investigator needs to have plenty of items ready.

Having the right type of vehicle to conduct your surveillance in is important as well. A mini van works well because most people don't connect a mini van with surveillance. There is plenty of room to set up your equipment as well. Look for one with tinted windows so that other people won't be able to tell you are even in there.

It can be difficult to write down information as you are conducting surveillance especially while you are driving. A voice activated tape recorder can help you keep track of details. You can speak streets, addresses, describe people that the person you are watching interacts with, and even speak license plates numbers to check into later. This helps you have an accurate account of the circumstances that occurred because you may forget small details later on that could benefit your case.

A good private investigator always has a variety of equipment on hand to be able to complete any type of surveillance job that might come along. Having quality tools and equipment is what makes the difference between a private investigator who can get the job done and one who had the opportunity but wasn't able to take advantage of it.
