The statistics that are recorded about the patterns of cheating spouses in our society are enough to make you wonder if the sanctity of marriage still exists. These statistics have continually increased over the past fifty years. The biggest changes have to do with women who are just as likely to cheat on their spouse as men are. It is believed the statistics that are available on cheating spouses are much lower than the actual numbers because many people just aren't willing to tell the truth when it comes to this particular subject. It is also a matter of what a particular person considers to be cheating. For example many men and women don't consider viewing pornography on the internet as cheating on their spouse while other people definitely feel it falls under than classification. Statistics indicate that about 40 million people annually engage in sexual content on the internet. The industry takes in more than $57 million each year. Men and women are engaging in pornographic material online both at home and on the internet. Statistics show that many teenagers also access pornography while they should be doing their homework. This may be affecting how they view pornography later in their marriage as well. Is chatting with other people online cheating on your spouse? Some people think it is and others think it depends on the nature of the content that is being shared. Regardless of the information that is being shared, engaging in online conversations means you aren't spending that time with your own spouse. This can lead to a huge gap in the communication and in the marriage after a while. It is ironic that statistics show 90% of Americans view having an affair either in person or emotionally online morally wrong. Yet these same statistics indicate 37% of men and 22% of women have admitted to having an affair at some point in their marriage. Cheating spouses is the number one cause sited for divorce in the United States and unfortunately the patterns of behavior in our society don't seem to be changing for the better. |
