Free Public Records Search E-mail
There are many different types of records that are considered to be public records by the government of the United States. When many individuals think of a free public records search, they typically think of searching for court documents along with birth, death, and marriage records. In reality, there are a large number of different documents that can be considered to be public records and fall under the Freedom of Information Act that governs access to such documents.

Information that is found during a free public records search generally contains two types of information; information that the government has made public about you and information that you have made public about yourself. Almost any information that you place on the internet about yourself that is not on a secure website or a secure portion of a website is generally considered to be public information and can be viewed by anyone who cares to search for the information.

A free public records search is typically conducted in one of two ways. The first way is to actually go to the courthouse, government office, or library of the city that the records that you are interested in is located in and research or ask someone to locate the public records that you are interested in. This is generally the most accurate way to conduct a free public records search and, if physical copies of the records are needed, this is the least expensive way to obtain copies of those records.

Another way that many individuals choose to conduct a free public records search is by using the internet to search for the records. The allure of using the internet to conduct the search is that it can return a large amount of information about the subject that the individual is interested in very quickly and from numerous sources. The worst part of using the internet to conduct a free public records search is that not all of the information that can be found on the internet is accurate and it can be very hard to distinguish between which pieces of information are accurate and which are false.

It is important for the individual that is conducting the free public records search to remember that free public records are often not free in every case. If the information is searched or obtained by using a website that is not affiliated with a government agency, the web developer has the right to charge the individual for using the website in order to recoup their costs for providing access and the search tools to view the information.
